Zakah in Islam
- When: September 4th, 2010, beginning at 5:00pm
- Where: The Ottawa Main Mosque
- Given by Imam Khaled AlAzhari and br. Ismail Berri
How to Pray, Why do we pray, Healthy Benifits of the prayer
- When: June 5th, 2010.
- Where: In the basement of the Ottawa Mosque from 11:00am to 7:00pm.
- Taught by Imam Khaled(Imam of the Ottawa Mosque), Sh. Mohammed Hashimi and Dr. Atif Kabir.

Um Al-Qara
- The purpose is to teach holy Quran, the pillars of Islam, Arabic, Hadith, and good manners to children.
- Classes take place on Sunday from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. and are taught in English
- This class is targetted for children from the ages of 6 through 10
Ottawa Institute for Knowledge (OIK) (Youth)
- Enrollment is available for students starting at the age of 15 and is available for both men and women
- Religious knowledge is taught in a simplified and gradual manner
- The ultimate goal is to enroll 100 students per semester, have it accredited by Al-Azhar University (or other reputable Islamic University) in order to ultimately establish an Islamic University in Ottawa, God willing
Seerah Lectures on the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
- To familiarize Muslims with our dear Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
- To learn about our Prophets (PBUH) way of life and from his sunnah
- Every 3rd Friday (7:30 - 9:00 pm)
- English and Arabic
Lessons from the Stories of the Prophets (AS)
- Every 1st Friday of the month (7:30 - 9:00 pm)
- In Arabic
- To familiarize Muslims with our dear Prophets (AS) as a civilized attempt to create a healthy Islamic Family life.
Memorizing Quran (for Men)
- Saturday (after Isha)
- Memorize surah Al-Baqra (Chapter 2)
- Currently memorizing the 1st juza
Muqra'ah for Huffaz (Recitation for those who have memorized Quran)
- Monday at 6:30 pm
- Reciting parts of the holy Quran by heart
- Feel free to attend the mosque in order to listen and to help correct your own recitation.
Understanding the Holy Quran - Sister's program
- This program enables the participants to learn word-for-word the translation of the Holy Quran; to study the tafseer and obtain a deeper understanding of the Quran. This program is for ladies only.
When: Every Saturday after Duhr prayers (11:30 am)

Muslims in Action (MiA)
- To incorporate Islamic dialogue and interaction within the Muslim Youth community.
- Hold events, lectures and group trips in an Islamic environment in order to bring people closer within the Ottawa Muslim community.

Sisters in Action (SiA)
- Program specifically designed for sisters. It comprises three sections:
1. Fiqh in women’s daily lives
2. Revision of manners and thoughts in the light of Islam
3. Public health sessions by a specialized physician
Somali School for Ladies
Sunday School
- Starts in mid September and ends in mid June the following year.
- Registration begins on the Sunday after the Labour Day week-end (This year, registration will begin on September 6, 2009 and from 12:00pm - 3:00pm in the basement. Space is limited, so please register early. Classes will begin on September 27, after Ramadan).
- Classes are from 9:30am to 1:00pm. However, the school remains closed on major public holidays observed in Canada.
- Minimum age for entry is 6 years (by December 31 of the entry year).
- Minimum donation (currently $45 per year) goes towards the cost of school supplies, teaching aids and student functions. The teaching staff is on voluntary basis.
- Space is limited and registration is on ‘first come, first registered' basis.
- Objectives of the course:
1. Islamic Studies: To provide basic understanding of Islamic Beliefs, Islamic Practices (Ibadat), the Seera of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and lessons from the stories of the Prophets in the Qur’an. Lessons on Ethics (Conduct and Behaviour) from the Qur’an and the Sunna of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Brief introduction to some early Muslim elders/leaders and to the World of Islam. Islamic Studies are covered in six different graduated levels (classes).
2. Qur’anic Arabic: The objective is to enable the students to gradually read the Qur’an properly. Qur’anic Arabic is currently covered in four different graduated levels, starting from ‘alif, baa taa’ to reading the Qur’an properly. Islamic Studies and Qur’anic Arabic both help in covering memorization and understanding with translation of the short Suras at the end of Part (juzz) 30 of the Qur’an.
